The posts are drying up around here. Mainly because the content is getting pretty dull. Take this post on pack towels for example.
If heading on a bike or hiking trip you can’t just take along an ordinary bath towel. These things don’t take much water to get saturated and tend to start to fester with mildew stank within a couple of days. They also tend to be larger in size, so take up a lot of space in the backpack or pannier.
The pack towel is a great alternative. Most pack towels are made of some type of microfiber and are super-absorbent. A good pack towel is quick drying, lightweight and compact so that they can be packed without taking up too much space. The pack towel that I purchased is the Aquis “Adventure”. Unlike some other pack towels, the “Adventure” can be dried in a laundry drier and comes with a loop & snap so that it can be hung from a tree limb or other protruding object for drying. This towel does feel chalky when rubbed against the skin but leaves one dry as a bone.
